Summary

Job Title: Cost Engineer Job Description The Cost Engineer is responsible for cost engineering on complex, multi-phase, multi-million dollar construction and/or renovation projects. This role includes preparing detailed computer-generated cost reports, analyzing cost/budget expenditures, maintaining cost control reports, and promptly reporting any anticipated cost overages. The position requires maintaining liaison with Data Processing for network calculations, printouts, and cost-related services. Responsibilities * Monitor project budgets for the multi-billion dollar Capital Improvement Program at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). * Review and analyze sub-contractor invoices and prepare job costing reports to allocate expenditures against the appropriate WBS numbers. * Perform cost-to-complete analysis considering staffing plans, contract commitments, expenditures to date, change orders, and trends. * Attend project meetings to provide current financial information and trend logs regarding potential impacts to project budget or forecast. * Develop creative reporting tools to communicate complex project sequencing and/or progress assessments. * Review task orders to ensure necessary budget and/or contract capacity exists for contractors and sub-consultants. * Analyze bid award and change order values, preparing reconciliations to include in the current forecast at completion. * Manage Prolog by updating contract commitments, reconciling and analyzing actual expenditures, performing budget transfers, and monitoring trend status. * Ensure Prolog data aligns with LAWA's reporting needs and prepare data to support documentation required for journal vouchers for budget transfers. Essential Skills * 5 years or more of cost engineering experience directly related to construction projects, preferably aviation projects. * Required cost engineer certification, such as CCE (Certified Cost Engineer) or CCP (Certified Cost Professional). * A bachelor's degree in a related field such as architecture, engineering, construction management, or similar disciplines. * Familiarity with Prolog and Bluebeam software. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex projects. * Proficiency in budgeting, project documentation, contract, change control, cost forecasting, invoice processing, document control, Primavera, and subcontract administration. Work Environment Employees will work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, and onsite at the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The typical work hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Projects vary widely, including terminal renovations, airside field work, and runway work, with project sizes likely to be $20 million plus. This environment combines remote work flexibility with onsite collaboration, focusing on large-scale public infrastructure projects. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $132000.00/yr.
