Summary

Role: Principal Cost Engineer

Salary: Circa £50,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Hybrid (1-2 days per week on-site due to workload classification)

Security Clearance: Must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

The Opportunity:

As a Principal Cost Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring cost data is robust, accurate, and supports key business decisions. This is a dynamic and impactful role, where you’ll collaborate with multiple functions to provide critical forecasting and analysis throughout the entire project life cycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships across the business to gather the necessary data for accurate cost forecasting
  • Work with Manufacturing teams to provide forecast production costs and undertake whole life cycle cost analysis
  • Support Bid Teams by providing cost insights for future business opportunities
  • Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing stakeholders to ensure cost efficiency
  • Generate and maintain Business Cost Forecasting documents throughout the project/equipment life cycle
  • Analyse cost data, report findings to key stakeholders, and drive transparency
  • Challenge existing forecasting processes and drive continuous improvements
  • Lead and facilitate key meetings, ensuring clear communication and decision-making


What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: HNC/HND standard or equivalent
  • Experience: A strong background in engineering/manufacturing is essential, with previous experience in estimating or cost engineering being highly desirable
  • Production Life Cycle: Relevant experience is beneficial
  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge: An understanding of manufacturing processes is key
  • Skills: Excellent influencing, negotiating, and persuasion skills with the ability to adapt in different situations
  • Analytical Ability: Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Leadership: Ability to motivate and manage workloads for yourself and others
  • Self-Motivation: Resilience and tenacity to deliver results through others, driving continuous improvement
