Summary

Starlight Investments, in conjunction with WP Osborne Executive Search is seeking a Corporate Accountant to join their Corporate Finance team.


Corporate Accountant


Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance and indirectly to the Senior Vice President, Tax & Corporate Finance, the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and completion of tasks impacting the overall financial operations of the Starlight Asset Management Group of entities.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and record journal entries to capture bank activity;
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations (prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, etc.) and record journal entries as needed;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly chargeback schedules for shared costs;
  • Prepare invoices for corporate revenue streams;
  • Reconcile and record corporate-related expenses;
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable entries based on the invoice schedule and overhead cost allocation based on up-to-date employee list;
  • Review travel and recoverable expenses monthly and record journal entries as needed;
  • Prepare and file HST returns every month for various corporate entities;
  • Review employee expenses and supporting attachments, approving employee expense reports;
  • Review corporate credit card expenses and supporting attachments, approving corporate credit card expense reports, and recording journal entries;
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and record intercompany transactions;
  • Initiate payment for corporate expenses and confirm wiring instructions with vendors;
  • Assist with cash flow management – daily, weekly, and monthly cash requirements reports;
  • Assist with preparing financial statements and responding to auditor’s queries;
  • Assist with preparing an in-house tax return program and preparing basic corporate returns;
  • Assist with preparing the annual budget and monthly reporting packages to each department with relevant variance analysis;
  • Assist with other ad-hoc projects as needed.


Qualifications

The qualified candidate will possess a University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 1 to 2 years of accounting experience; thorough understanding of accounting principles, advanced Excel skills, and strong organization, analytical, communication, and time management skills with a strong focus on attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data in timely manner. Working towards achieving a CPA designation, experience using AI platforms, and knowledge of Yardi are considered assets.
