The purpose of this class is to oversee the Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program. Recruit potential students, teach workshop-based training, guide students through the certification process, provide academic and career advisement, and develop and maintain learning assessment processes.
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Public Health, or a related field required, Master's degree preferred. Current Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist or Registered Peer Supervisor preferred. Three (3) years of full-time experience working with community college students, under-resourced adults, or substance-using populations required. Familiarity with peer certification processes preferred. Must have a valid Maryland driver's license with moving violation points fewer than five (5).

* Provide oversight of Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program.
* Support students during their academic training.
* Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
* Monitor compliance with department policies and procedures.
* Maintain department records and files, as required.
* Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
* Represent the College and/or department at events, as required.
* Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.

* Coordinate activities of the Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program.
* Recruit prospective students for placement in the program.
* Teach workshop-based training programs for peers.
* Assist employer partners in placing employees in the training program.
* Guide students through the certification processes, including application, background check, and exam preparation.
* Provide certification exam preparation training.
* Support departmental activities in related career education programs.
* Host informational sessions for prospective students.
* Guide prospective students in selecting the appropriate program to meet their career goals.
* Provide academic and career advisement for current students.
* Provide workshops for all Human Services Counseling students in relevant areas, such as overdose response.
* Act as liaison between credit and non-credit areas of Behavioral Health training.
* Maintain a continuum of activities between credit and non-credit areas of the college, including continuing education activities for credentialed professionals.
* Develop and maintain prior learning assessment processes in collaboration with relevant areas of the college.
* Participate in Career Program Advisory Boards, as requested by department chairs and program coordinators.
* Maintain accurate records of student contacts in order to fulfill reporting requirements and to track student progress.
* Participate in the preparation of mid-year and end-of-year reports as necessary.
* Assure confidentiality with staff, faculty and clients as appropriate.
* Participate in evening and weekend on-and off-campus events relating to the program.
