RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator of Programs and Initiatives has primary responsibility for advising and assisting the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs in all programs and initiatives associated with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). In addition, this person serves as the chief liaison for the Research and Creative Productions Committee (RCPC) and provides administrative support for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
REQUIREMENTS: Baccalaureate degree. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to supervise and assess the performance of undergraduate work study students and graduate assistants. The ability to collect and statistically analyze data pursuant to grant funding initiatives and programs that will inform decision making in ORSP and apply independent judgment. Demonstrated accuracy in handling detail-oriented work. Excellent computer skills are required. Proficiency in the use of advanced word processing, graphics, and spreadsheet software, including Microsoft Office applications.
The Coordinator of Programs and Initiatives must be knowledgeable of University, ORSP, and general external grant funding policies and be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment in decision making, based upon their ongoing assessment and analysis of available resources, grant funding programs, and institutional and unit priorities.
The Coordinator of Programs and Initiatives must possess a general knowledge of all University functions, make sound independent decisions, and work effectively both independently and within a team context. Analyzing data, assessing changing resource availability, planning work-flow management, and dealing with confidential matters are important responsibilities of this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in grant development activities preferred. Experience with web and database software. Management and/or supervisory experience.

Organizational Relationships
The Coordinator of Programs and Initiatives reports to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs. The position interacts and collaborates with the Research Integrity and Compliance Director and ORSP staff on a daily basis, and interacts with other University administrators including Vice Presidents, Deans, Chairs, Directors, Graduate School personnel, and faculty, staff, students, as well as with external funding agency personnel, regularly.
