JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Director of Administrative Services with input from the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, the Coordinator of Professional Learning and Staff Development performs a variety of human resource and curriculum functions including, but not limited to leading and supporting high-quality professional learning initiatives across the district. This position will play a key role in supporting educator growth through the induction of new teachers, oversight of professional development programs, implementation of licensure tracking systems, and support for National Board Certification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
* Maryland State teaching certification, with an Administrator I endorsement.
* A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching or instructional leadership experience.
* Demonstrates knowledge of teacher licensure requirements and professional development best practices.
* Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
* Ability to design, create and execute projects using databases, graphs, charts and spreadsheets.
* Ability to work with all school system staff and the general public.
* Must be pleasant and professional.
* A self-starter and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience with PowerSchool Professional Learning platform
* Experience in coordinating adult learning or educator learning programs
* Familiarity with National Board Certification processes and supports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Licensure Management and Compliance:
* Serve as the district lead in understanding and communicating Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) licensure requirements
* Guide educators through the certification and renewal processes.
* Support teachers pursuing National Board Certification, including managing timelines, resources, and support systems.
* Professional Learning Platform Implementation:
* Lead the district wide implementation of Professional Learning (a PowerSchool product) to track, manage, and store licensure points and Personal Development records
* Train and support staff on effective use of the platform.
* Ensure data accuracy, system maintenance, and integration with district processes.
* Professional Development Coordination:
* Plan, organize, and implement all district-wide professional development (PD) activities.
* Coordinate external PD opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and specialized training.
* Collaborate with administrators and instructional staff to assess PD needs and effectiveness.
* New Teacher Induction:
* Develop, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive induction program for new staff members.
* Provide mentorship structures and professional learning aligned with district goals and new educator needs.
* Data and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of professional development activities, participation, and licensure progress.
* Generate reports and insights to inform district leadership and comply with state requirements.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* Serve as a liaison between district administration, school based staff, MSDE, and external professional learning providers.
* Communicate PD opportunities and licensure updates clearly and regularly to all stakeholders.

PAY & HOURS:
This position is a 12-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Administrators & Supervisors Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and abilities related to this position.
