In this dynamic role, you’ll craft communications that keep families informed, supported, and connected, and inspire students to engage fully in campus life. You’ll connect directly with parents and families, assisting with planning and executing Parent and Family Services events, building community through the Parent and Family Association, and welcoming prospective and new families to our vibrant campus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to help parents, families, and students build affinity toward UofM, including but not limited to creating materials to encourage active parent and family engagement, promote student engagement in on-campus events and activities, and to tell the story of the UofM experience from dual perspectives. Manage the Parent and Family Services and the ExperienceUofM social media accounts and provide training for other staff within the department as to social media and newsletter communications. Assist in the development and maintenance of parent-facing digital platforms, including website, mobile apps, chatbots, virtual courses and online communities, to provide timely parent and family information, resources, and interactive learning experiences.


  • Support and staff all Parent & Family Services events including Parent and Family Weekend, Parent and Family Spring Day, Tiger Talks, fundraisers, send-off events, and community events.


  • Provide additional support for departmental objectives, assessment, program review, and planning efforts for Parent and Family Services and the Parent and Family Association (PFA), under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Parent and Family Services.


  • Support departmental participation in institutional efforts to recruit, retain, and graduate students, which would include representing Parent and Family Services at events such as recruitment outreaches, college fairs, admission Preview Days, New Student Orientation, and Tiger Welcome.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two (2) to five (5) years of appropriate experience. The department is especially interested in candidates with event planning experience, marketing and social media experience, email marketing platforms and professional design software.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service excellence
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students and the general public
