Primary Purpose:
Provide districtwide leadership in early literacy (Pre-K through 4th grade) and the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Support aligned and effective instructional practices that promote foundational reading and writing skills and coordinate systems of academic and behavioral intervention in accordance with MTSS principles.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from an accredited university with a focus in literacy, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or related field
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Texas Reading Academy completion
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Deep knowledge of research-based literacy instruction and early reading development
Understanding of MTSS frameworks, including data-based decision-making and tiered instruction
Ability to analyze and use student performance data to inform instruction
Experience in designing and delivering professional development
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in early literacy
Experience with intervention systems or MTSS implementation preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
* Collaborate with district and campus leaders to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment in early literacy (Pre-K-4) and MTSS.
* Lead the development, implementation, and revision of literacy curriculum resources and intervention plans.
* Assist campuses in delivering high-quality core instruction and evidence-based interventions across all three tiers.
* Support universal screening, diagnostic assessments, and progress monitoring practices for early literacy.
* Coordinate and support implementation of the Texas Reading Academies.
* Oversee the coordination and alignment of the district's Pre-K program, including curriculum, compliance, instructional practices, and family engagement.
* Monitor and evaluate literacy outcomes and MTSS program effectiveness using student performance data.
* Support compliance with state and federal regulations related to early literacy and MTSS.
* Maintain a repository of instructional materials, intervention tools, and progress monitoring systems related to literacy and MTSS.
* Participate in budget development related to early literacy and MTSS instructional resources and professional development.
Staff Development
11.Plan and deliver professional learning in early literacy and MTSS for teachers, interventionists, and administrators.
12.Stay informed about and share updates in literacy research, state initiatives, and MTSS models.
13.Provide instructional coaching and classroom support to Pre-K-4 teachers implementing tiered literacy instruction.
14.Facilitate professional learning communities focused on early literacy instruction and intervention practices.
Other
* Communicate program goals and progress to stakeholders, including parents and the community.
* Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and documentation.
* Assist campuses in tracking student progress data across all tiers of instruction and intervention.
* Support the development and use of districtwide systems for monitoring Pre-K-4 literacy and MTSS data.
