Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for developing the technical aspects of assigned projects. This role involves assisting in feasibility studies and cost estimation, designing system architecture including PLC/HMI/DCS, I/O, networks, and computer infrastructure, and creating electrical control panel designs and schematics. You will also be tasked with specifying instrumentation, developing and implementing PLC programs, robotic programming and support, and HMI/SCADA application development and screen design. Additional responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining assembly and test equipment. Collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other team members is essential to ensure projects meet scope, budget, and schedule expectations. Effective communication with project managers throughout the project lifecycle is crucial to keep them informed of progress, risks, and costs. This position requires maintaining expertise in industry trends and vendor/partner offerings to recommend solutions aligned with business needs.
Responsibilities
* Assist in feasibility studies and cost estimation.
* Design system architecture including PLC/HMI/DCS, I/O, networks, and computer infrastructure.
* Develop electrical control panel designs and schematics.
* Specify instrumentation requirements.
* Develop and implement PLC programs.
* Support robotic programming and operations.
* Develop HMI/SCADA applications and screen designs.
* Design, build, and maintain assembly and test equipment.
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to meet project scope, budget, and schedule.
* Communicate effectively with project managers regarding progress, risks, and costs.
* Stay updated on industry trends and vendor offerings to recommend appropriate solutions.
Essential Skills
* Proficiency in PLC programming, including Ladder logic.
* Robotic programming expertise.
* Experience in HMI/SCADA development.
* Familiarity with industrial network communication protocols.
* Ability to work with electrical schematics and control panel design.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and schematics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* 2+ years of applicable work experience.
* Experience with electrical control systems design and schematics development is a plus.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities.
* Desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
The work environment is collaborative, offering opportunities to grow your controls background within the valve industry. You will work on a team consisting of the manufacturing engineering manager and two manufacturing engineers. The role requires minimal travel, estimated at 5%. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a business casual dress code.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
