Company:

We have been retained by a well-known, established, entrepreneurial, film technology and media distribution/streaming company of classic, foreign and contemporary films, who is well-positioned for continued growth and expansion. In this newly created position, the company seeks a high potential, hands-on financial professional to lead the financial function and be part of the management/leadership team. The company was recently acquired by an individual private investor who has ownership/holdings in other entertainment assets and is excited to drive positive change and growth to the organization. The company culture is positive, entrepreneurial, creative, casual and fun with a team that is passionate about the film industry and the company mission. The company is based in Midtown New York close to Union Square and Gramercy Park and is a reasonable commute from most Metro NY locations.


Position:

This newly created position will report to the President and Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for managing a small staff over the financial function. This person will be responsible for financial reporting which will include monthly and quarterly financial statements, management reporting, investor reporting, tax, cash flow forecasting, treasury, risk management, financial systems and special projects. The company has an interesting business model with numerous revenue streams. They seek someone who can make recommendations and drive change to improve financial operations as well as work with senior management to grow the business. This is a broad, diverse role that will have close interaction with both senior management as well as the investor/ownership group. As this person learns the business and builds the trust and confidence of senior management, the expectation/objective is for this person to grow into the CFO role.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance role. Prior public accounting preferred.
  • Experience/interest in the media/entertainment industry required. Prior exposure to royalty-based business models and distribution accounting preferred.
  • Solid financial aptitude and ability to evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures to improve and establish best practices.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, informal, creative, fluid environment with changing priorities.
  • Hands-on leadership, change management and communication skills. This person will not only be responsible for the management and development of the team but also have significant interaction with the senior management team and investors.
