Summary

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Controller in Washington, DC. Responsibilities:

  • Controller will oversee global accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and intercompany transactions
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings for all country offices
  • Lead and coordinate annual external audits (local and consolidated) and regulatory financial reporting requirements in all operating jurisdictions
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial systems to ensure integrity, efficiency, and compliance with donor, regulatory, and internal standards
  • Develop and implement global financial policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and international standards
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development for global finance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Collaborate with program and country leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts
  • As a Controller, you will monitor compliance with local financial laws and regulations across countries of operation
  • Serve as the finance lead on cross-departmental initiatives, including system implementations, process improvement, and capacity building
  • Partner with CFO to ensure strategic alignment of financial operations with organizational goals and donor expectations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting certification required
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership or controller role
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), fund accounting, and financial reporting in a multi-currency environment
  • Proficient in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage teams remotely and across multiple time zones and cultures
  • Experience working in an international NGO or nonprofit organization strongly preferred
  • Fluent in English; Additional languages (especially French, Spanish, or Arabic) a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
