Our client, a $60m government contractor, is looking for their next Controller. This is a remote position, accepting East Coast candidates only. Must be a power user/ administrator of Deltek Costpoint. The Controller will lead the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS), overseeing financial reporting, and managing all accounting functions. This role requires a strong background in Deltek Costpoint as the primary system administrator, ensuring its efficient operation, integration, and optimization for financial and project accounting needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in government contracting, including DCAA compliance, indirect rate development, and contract cost accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Compliance
- Oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, and CAS regulations.
- Ensure DCAA-compliant accounting practices and support audits.
- Maintain and oversee indirect cost rate structures and incurred cost submissions.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Deltek Costpoint System Administration (Required)
- Serve as the primary system administrator for Deltek Costpoint, overseeing system maintenance, upgrades, and configurations.
- Ensure seamless integration of Costpoint with other financial, HR, and operational systems.
- Develop Costpoint reporting tools to enhance financial visibility and operational efficiency.
- Train and support internal users on best practices, system updates, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with IT and external vendors on system enhancements and issue resolution.
Accounting & Reporting
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cost accounting.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all government-required financial reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
- Monitor financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Manage cash flow, financial planning, and risk management strategies.
Government Contract Accounting
- Oversee project accounting, ensuring proper cost allocation to contracts.
- Develop and maintain indirect rates (Fringe, Overhead, G&A).
- Support contract pricing and cost proposals, ensuring compliance with government requirements.
- Work with contracting officers and auditors to ensure financial transparency.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team, fostering professional growth.
- Coordinate with program managers, contracts, and business development teams on financial matters.
- Develop financial policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and compliance.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 9+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in government contracting.
- Expert-level proficiency in Deltek Costpoint, including system administration experience.
- Deep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements.
- Experience with indirect cost rate development and incurred cost submissions.
- Expertise in GAAP accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- CPA certification.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial automation tools.
- Prior work with defense, aerospace, or technology-focused government contractors.
