Summary
This position will join the executive management team overseeing the finance, accounting and administration functions of a growing closely held industrial equipment Company and its affiliated entities. This is a critical leadership role which will report directly to the President and involves close collaboration with the other executives and owners to enhance decision making and meeting Company goals. Ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of financial information as well as optimizing internal processes and monitoring internal controls will be a key function for the controller who will also be overseeing the administrative departments including IT and the front office.

- Set and evaluate accounting, human resource, and IT departmental goals.
- Responsible for accounting and administration policies and procedures and related documentation.
- Review and approve all financial reports and ensure timely dissemination.
- Responsible for the operating and capital budgeting process and ongoing evaluation of budget to actual results.
- Develop long-range financial plans, monitor cash flow and manage working capital needs.
- Oversee and improve the accounting processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, collections, cash management and financial statement reporting to achieve desired efficiencies.
- Continually review and enhance internal controls.
- Collaborate with warehouse personnel on improving processes for cycle counting and inventory management.
- Support infrastructure reviews to ensure accounting systems are compatible with growth and operational needs and collaborate with IT management on system upgrades and opportunities for further automation.
- Oversee and manage accounting system upgrades and implementations of new applications.
- Participate in strategic planning and regular leadership team meetings.
- Perform assigned projects timely and accurately to facilitate executive needs which may, at times, included forecasting and “what if” analyses.
- Assist executives with compensation and bonus structures.
- Analyze and monitor profitability by location, products, vendors, customers, etc.
- Work with the executive management team to ensure the Company is in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for overseeing employee benefit plans with the goal of maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
- Assess external financing needs, evaluate proposals, and participate with management in the decision-making process.
- Assistance with designing and maintaining proper business practices for risk management including physical security, IT and telecommunications, data, insurance, and general business risk management.
- Coordinate and oversee in the flow of information to outside human resource professionals and other contractors, ensuring that record keeping meets the requirements of government contractors.
- Monitor terms with various vendors.
- Maintain relationships with key service providers.
- Coordinate and/or participate in the flow of information to external CPAs for financial and tax reporting.
- Communicate with staff, management, peers, vendors, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform and abide by all policies, work procedures, instructions, regulations, and laws including timely filing of all federal, state and local tax reports.
Competencies
- Mastery of accounting principles, financial statement presentation, financial analysis and internal controls.
- Strong technical and financial management capacity including expertise in managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory management, work-in-process, state and federal taxes, third party reporting, banking and lending requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for overseeing the employees in the accounting department, IT department and general office.
- Supervise employees, fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Provide mentorship to personnel to enhance job growth, efficiencies, and performance.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring and training.
Education/Certification and Experience
- BS or BA in accounting or equivalent degree required.
- 5+ years of previous controllership or equivalent leadership experience required.
- CPA and/or CMA certification preferred.
- Previous experience with NAV or 365 Business Central a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers, photocopiers/scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing or similar tasks are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Position requires sitting for long periods; manual dexterity to be able to write, type and use a keyboard or 10-key proficiently; ability to lift items up to 10 pounds; ability to clearly communicate by telephone, email and in person; ability to use a computer and other electronic equipment.
