Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions within the manufacturing operations of the company. This includes budgeting, cost accounting, inventory valuation, production analysis, and financial reporting. The Controller acts as a strategic partner to plant management, driving financial performance, improving cost efficiency, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and manage the cost accounting system, including product costing, variance analysis, and margin analysis.
+ Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for manufacturing operations.
+ Develop and monitor manufacturing budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
+ Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making and process improvements.
+ Collaborate with plant managers and operations teams to understand business drivers and align financial strategies with production goals.
+ Ensure accurate inventory valuation and perform regular physical inventory audits and reconciliations.
+ Support capital expenditure planning, ROI analysis, and financial modeling for new projects.
+ Maintain internal controls, ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate policies, and coordinate internal and external audits.
+ Provide financial insight and recommendations for pricing strategies, sourcing decisions, and make-versus-buy analyses.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
+ 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment ideally.
+ Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and financial analysis.
+ Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
+ High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma certification.
+ Familiarity with standard costing, activity-based costing, and throughput accounting.
+ Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
