Job Title: Controller – Property Management

Overview

An established and growing real estate development and property management organization is seeking a skilled Controller to oversee key accounting functions related to its residential property portfolio, including large-scale apartment and condominium communities. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, and reports directly to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting
    • Assist in the preparation, analysis, and distribution of timely and accurate financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.


  • Accounting Operations
    • Oversee all day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
    • Maintain accurate financial records and reporting systems.


  • Internal Controls
    • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of internal control frameworks.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.


  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Assist in budget creation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Provide strategic insights to aid in decision-making and financial planning.


  • Audit Support
    • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
    • Prepare and organize required documentation during audits.


  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
    • Provide training, guidance, and performance management support.


  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate accounting and financial processes.


  • Compliance & Cash Management
    • Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and organizational policies.
    • Monitor cash flow, process payroll, and oversee timely invoice payments.
    • Prepare cash flow projections and financial metrics reports for executive leadership.


  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Respond to inquiries from leadership regarding financial results or special projects.
    • Promote effective cross-functional collaboration across departments.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, audit preparation, and cash management.
