BC Wood is the voice of BC’s value-added wood product manufacturers. Its purpose is to assist value-added

wood product manufacturers prosper through business development activities and services including market intelligence, in-market assistance and by connecting sellers with buyers & specifiers of wood products.


BC Wood represents every value-added sector (furniture, cabinets, millwork, pre-built structures, engineered wood products, remanufactured products and specialty items) in every region of the province.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

BC Wood is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team on a part-time (20-25 hours per week) basis to

fulfill a 12-month temporary contract. Daily working hours can be negotiated, and a hybrid work week could also

be available.


Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will be responsible for:

  • Managing one direct report (Bookkeeping and Accounting Assistant)
  • Day-to-day accounting and treasury operations including AR, AP, GL, GST filing and cash management
  • Financial reporting objectives including monthly financials, Board reporting, and government term reports
  • Payroll and benefits administration, including WCB compliance
  • Collaborating with the management team in budget development for funding proposals and contracts
  • Coordination of annual external reviews and audits
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of accounting software, systems and internal controls
  • Contract management and administration
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting, including similar roles
  • CPA certification
  • Extensive experience with Excel and Quickbooks online accounting software
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and processing systems (ADP)
  • Ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experience reporting to government agencies would be considered an asset
