Summary

Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. GHJ's relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client's needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our financial services company. The Controller will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, and compliance functions. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our financial statements, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making by the leadership team. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide in-depth financial analysis and support to leadership by analyzing trends, variances, and financial performance. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and industry regulations. Accounting Oversight: Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and efficient accounting processes. Review general ledger entries, journal entries, and reconciliations to maintain accuracy. Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate recording. Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and coordinate with department heads to establish financial goals. Provide regular forecasts and variance analysis to track financial performance against budgeted targets. Develop financial models to support strategic planning and business growth. Internal Controls & Compliance: Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure the company's assets are safeguarded and financial reporting is reliable. Oversee the completion of audits, both internal and external, and ensure compliance with all financial regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, regulations, and best practices. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure liquidity and financial stability. Optimize cash management processes and provide recommendations for cash flow improvements. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities. Taxation & Regulatory Reporting: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting. Process Improvement & Automation: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the accounting and financial reporting functions. Implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred). Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. Experience in the financial services industry is a plus. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other financial management systems). Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling and reporting tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
