Responsibilities

As a Permanent Controller, you will be tasked with the following responsibilities

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures.
• Regularly produce financial reports and statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.
• Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system.
• Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new sites.
• Monitor progress and changes, keeping senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
• Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
• Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  
  

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Permanent Controller position should possess the following qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA or related degree is strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
• Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
• Deep knowledge and understanding of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rules and standards.
• Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, QuickBooks, and financial management software.
• An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information.
• A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality.
• A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
