This established and growing manufacturing company, with annual revenues exceeding $20 million, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Controller to lead and oversee the financial operations of the business. The company is dedicated to providing high-quality products, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative work environment. As the Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and driving financial strategy to support the company’s growth and success.
Responsibilities Of The Controller
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and accurate reporting
Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation of accounts
Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing actionable insights to management
Oversee cash flow management and assist with strategic financial decision-making
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records
Prepare detailed financial reports for management, board meetings, and external stakeholders
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results
Manage payroll processing, tax compliance, and other employee-related financial functions
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on financial tasks and professional development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and sales, to streamline financial processes and improve overall efficiency
Oversee fixed assets and capital expenditure tracking and reporting
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Manage financial systems, primarily QuickBooks, to ensure smooth financial operations and accurate data
Preferred Qualifications Of The Controller
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience with QuickBooks (QB) and other financial software systems
Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with strong mentorship and communication skills
Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create complex reports and use advanced functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables
Experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and financial analysis
CPA or equivalent certification is a plus
Experience with manufacturing cost accounting is preferred
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Salary And Benefits
In-office position based near Akron, Ohio
Base Salary $90,000 to $115,000 depending on experience
