Position Overview
The Controller - Construction will oversee all financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards. This role is critical in managing budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies to support project management and operational efficiency within the construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage budgets for construction projects
- Conduct financial forecasting and analysis to inform decision-making
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting principles
- Oversee financial reporting and accounting processes for construction activities
- Implement cost control measures to optimize project profitability
- Manage audit processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare and review tax documentation and filings for construction-related activities
- Assess and manage financial risks associated with construction projects
- Utilize ERP software for financial management and reporting
- Lead and mentor the finance team to enhance performance and productivity
- Collaborate with project managers to oversee contract management and job costing
- Provide financial insights for strategic planning and operational improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial management role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Proficient in GAAP and relevant accounting principles
- Experience with ERP software for financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability in cost control and financial risk management
- Ability to conduct thorough financial audits and ensure compliance
- Experience in tax preparation and compliance for construction companies
- Familiarity with contract management and job costing in a construction context over $50mil
