Controller

Our client, a growing manufacturer with international operations, is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead its accounting and financial management functions. Reporting to the CFO, this role will drive financial oversight, planning, and compliance, with a strong focus on manufacturing operations and cross-border transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance (Canada, U.S., and international).
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and board-level reporting.
• Manage external audits and ensure adherence to ASPE standards.
• Lead cash flow, treasury, and banking functions to maintain financial health.
• Analyze financial data to support capital investments, pricing strategies, and international sales agreements.
• Collaborate across departments (operations, procurement, sales) to align financial insights with business goals.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian tax law, employment legislation, and industry regulations.
• Oversee payroll and HR-related financial compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls and drive continuous process improvement.
• Lead, coach, and mentor the accounting team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; CPA designation required.
• Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of cross-border financial operations, including foreign exchange and international tax compliance.
• Skilled in financial systems (ERP) and advanced Excel functions.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high-performing teams.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to present financial data to diverse audiences.
