The Controller will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and lead day-to-day finance operations, supervising a team responsible for accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role involves close collaboration with back-office functional leads, operations teams, and senior leadership to support all financial needs.
Key individual must have exceptional organizational skills and be attentive to detail, with the ability to multi-task and manage changing demands with a sense of urgency. Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end close process, implementing enhancements for efficiency, speed, and quality.
- Collaborate with payroll and billing during the month-end close.
- Prepare, review and post journal entries.
- Oversee the reconciliation of all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.
- Provide leadership and supervision to accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable staff.
- Establish, refine and enforce internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Assist in reviewing and updating corporate finance policies and practices.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Support tax preparation and insurance renewal requests.
- Collaborate with other finance department managers to achieve overall department goals and objectives.
- Support ad-hoc financial and accounting projects as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Business, Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience successfully leading and managing a finance/accounting department.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards. Licensed CPA preferred.
- Experience in managing month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Must have experience using Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel (advanced preferred), Word, and PowerPoint. Must be able to navigate multiple web platforms and various computer programs.
- Knowledge of and/or prior experience with Sage (Intacct), ADP Vantage, Bill.com preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
