We have been engaged in a search for a growing $50 million manufacturing company based in Bloomington, MN. They are searching for a controller who can lead our accounting function and have the ability to grow into a CFO role over time.

Position Summary:

The Controller will oversee all financial activities, including accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and cash management. This hands-on leadership role will work directly wth the CEO and collaborate closely with the leadership team. The ideal candidate is a proactive and strategic thinker excited to join a company that values teamwork and offers a clear path to a CFO role.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements by GAAP.

- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads.

- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures.

- Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities.

- Partner with operations leadership to improve profitability and cost efficiency.

- Manage annual audit processes and relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.

- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and business growth.

- Mentor and develop the accounting and finance team.

- Play a key role in strategic planning and financial modeling as part of the executive team.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).

- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in manufacturing.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

- Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to think strategically while being hands-on with the details.

- Eagerness to step into a CFO role as the company continues to grow.
