A well-established Nonprofit in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Controller or Accounting Manager with experience in nonprofit and healthcare accounting. This full-time, onsite position offers a unique opportunity to manage the financial operations of a mission-driven organization that positively impacts the community. The successful candidate will oversee all accounting functions, manage a small team, and ensure compliance with grant and healthcare program reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including month-end close processes, audits, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare program grants, contracts, and related financial reporting regulations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, enabling data-driven decision-making for organizational leadership.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 3–4 accounting staff, cultivating a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Coordinate audits and collaborate with external auditors to maintain compliance and transparency.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting with at least 2 years of non-profit experience (including Grant Accounting experience), preferably in an organization with multiple programs.
• Experience in health care field including revenue cycle preferred.
• MIP Abila experience preferred, but not required
• Leadership experience – this role will manage 3-4 people
