The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly accomplished, hands-on Controller to join our team. This critical role will be instrumental in managing our financial operations, ensuring robust accounting processes, and supporting the company's continued rapid growth. The ideal candidate will be a "doer" with a proven track record of success in scaling tech and/or healthcare companies. This individual must be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator deeply involved in day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance. Key Responsibilities: * Financial Operations and Accounting: * Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance * Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP * Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines * Implement and maintain a strong internal control environment * Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers * Lead R&D tax credit documentation, preparation, and filings * Financial Systems and Process Optimization: * Implement, optimize, and maintain ERP and accounting/payroll solutions * Develop and document efficient financial processes and workflows * Ensure data integrity across all financial systems. * Create and maintain financial dashboards for operational monitoring * Financial Planning and Reporting: * Build and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting * Prepare comprehensive monthly financial packages for leadership * Provide timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making * Develop and track key financial metrics to drive business performance * Cost Management and Analysis: * Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement expense control measures * Conduct regular variance analysis to identify trends and anomalies * Support pricing decisions with accurate cost information * Analyze customer profitability and product performance * Compliance and Risk Management: * Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements * Maintain appropriate insurance coverage * Identify and mitigate financial risks * Stay current on relevant regulations and accounting standards * Leadership and Collaboration: * Support cross-functional initiatives with financial expertise * Potentially build and mentor a finance team as the company grows * Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement Qualifications: * You must currently be located in the Seattle Metro Region. Able to work hybrid on-site a minimum of three days at our Bellevue location * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's preferred; CPA required * Minimum of 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a hands-on Controller role * Big Four accounting firm experience preferred * Proven track record of success in high-growth technology SaaS companies * Experience in both public and private sector organizations * Demonstrated expertise in R&D tax credits and other tax-related matters * Expert proficiency with ERP systems and accounting solutions like Xero and QBO. Experience with Rippling Payroll Solution a plus * Advanced Excel skills with the ability to create complex financial models and reports * Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting requirements * Experience implementing and optimizing financial systems and processes * Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences * Proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment * Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
