Position Summary:
The Division Controller is involved in each of the division's key operating areas from land procurement and product development to construction and warranty management. This position plays a pivotal role in all aspects of division accounting by guiding business plans and financial forecasting and ensuring precision in our budgets.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee divisional accounting staff, accounts payable functions, journal entries, book closures, and GAAP reporting.
* Prepare the division's annual business plan and quarterly forecasts and provide regular analyses of operations and financial results.
* Provide oversight and guidance on various budgets related to land development, sales & marketing, and construction costs.
* Ensure accurate and efficient policies, procedures, and internal controls, while guaranteeing the divisions financial statements align with corporate guidelines.
* Collaborate with corporate leadership to innovate business tools and simplify data/reporting processes.
* Oversee month, quarter, and year-end processes, including cost capitalization, allocations, and COS processing.
* Manage all cash entries, sales vouchers, and journal entries within the division.
* Coordinate and certify SOX key controls while handling both internal and external audit requests.
* Evaluate land deals for compliance with corporate and divisional standards.
* Provide training and guidance on internal accounting systems and procedures to division personnel.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis/management.
* Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within the real estate or homebuilding industry.
* Strong knowledge of financial planning, reporting, and analysis, with a track record of driving financial performance and executing strategies that support business objectives and drive growth.
* In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities and will lead a team of people.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary position. May be required to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. This position requires public contact, as such, appropriate business apparel and professional appearance is expected.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required. A valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance is required at all times.
