Responsibilities

As a Permanent Controller, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial and accounting functions. Your key responsibilities will include

  • Overseeing the preparation and delivery of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensuring the company's budgeting and forecasting processes are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Leading the accounting department and providing guidance to the accounting team.
  • Coordinating with external auditors and managing internal audits.
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the company's business goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Permanent Controller position must meet the following qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proven experience in accounting management with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to make sound financial decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data to a non-financial audience.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage industry and its financial aspects.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing financial reports and statements.
