Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure accuracy in reporting for our organization in Akron, Ohio. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing accounting processes, preparing forecasts, and delivering insightful financial presentations. This role is critical in maintaining the organization's financial health and supporting strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to maintain smooth financial operations.
- Utilize QuickBooks to track and manage financial transactions efficiently.
- Train and mentor a newly-hired Staff Accountant to support their growth and development.
- Develop financial forecasts to support organizational planning and strategy.
- Prepare and present operational results to the Board of Directors, providing clear insights into financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to align financial objectives with organizational goals.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a controllership role.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of financial processes in educational institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in presenting financial data to stakeholders.
- Proven ability to train and mentor staff in accounting practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
