We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Control Panel Builder. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.
This position is responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the design, layout, assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical control panels and wiring used in electrical systems. As a
Control Panel Builder, you must have some mechanical aptitude and be able to read work orders, schematics, and follow production drawings, guidelines, and other instructions. You will work with other departments in problem-solving solutions as it relates to the assembly process and the functioning of panels and components. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly work area.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed drawings or schematics to mount and connect electrical panel components including switches, pilot lights, surge suppressors, circuit breakers, relays, VFDs, PLC hardware.
- Work with Team Lead, Production Supervisor, and engineering to ensure product quality.
- Work with shipping and receiving to ensure the availability of proper parts; assist in shipping to ensure proper and timely shipping of goods.
- Perform fabrication as needed; perform layout and installation of components on subpanels and enclosures.
- Install and shape conduit using mechanical or hydraulic conduit benders.
- Label and terminate wires or cables to electrical components and terminals.
- Maintain safety practices and procedures.
- Ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Keep management informed about the reliability of tools and equipment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills, And Educational Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Working knowledge of drafting, electrical system layout, blueprint reading, and mathematics; working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical system installation and maintenance work.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations.
- Skilled in operation of many types of production tools and equipment; skilled in reading blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to follow proper methods, procedures, and safety precautions of line work; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
