About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 11 About the Role: The Team: The Contract Negotiator will be a non-attorney member of the S&P Dow Jones Indices legal department. The SPDJI legal team is comprised of legal and non-legal professionals and supports, among other things, the division's commercial organization, product development/technology functions, business management/leadership and compliance functions. The Contract Negotiator position is similar to a Senior Paralegal, Procurement or Legal Contract Specialist position. The Impact: The Contract Negotiator is engaged in the fast-paced area of client and vendor contracting, primarily tasked with negotiating and drafting contracts for SPDJI's index information products and services, such as web-based platforms, data feeds and intellectual property licensing. You will provide exceptional customer service by assisting all clients with contract related inquiries that ultimately contribute to the finalization of the sales process and vendor data process. You will also assist SPDJI legal with project management related to the contracting process, client and partner relationships. Responsibilities: * Negotiate and draft various contracts such as product licenses, software licenses, trial agreements, confidentiality agreements, assignments and amendments; be well-versed in alternate language and drafting customized contract provisions. * Liaise with the commercial and product teams in the contract negotiation process; ensure that sales and business personnel comply with internal policies and procedures. * Navigate contracts database and other internal systems to obtain information on SPGMI's contractual relationships. * Work with management to create efficiencies in the contracting process. * Create PowerPoint presentations for meetings and training sessions; conduct training on Contracts to Commercial Team. * Participate in and/or lead projects, including due diligence activities related to acquisitions and divestitures. * Project manage a playbook for SPDJI contracting process. * Project manage unwinding of partnership relationships relevant to contracts. * Work with Decommission Team on legal-related issues. Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $91,805 to $159,121. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan. What We're Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: * At least 8 years of prior paralegal or legal affairs department experience. * Excellent interpersonal skills: be people oriented, collegial, and comfortable with frequent client-facing interactions (via e-mail, phone, and in-person). * Strong verbal/written communication and business writing abilities. * Ease with working independently while escalating issues, as necessary. * Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly. * Capacity to simultaneously manage multiple priorities. * College degree. * Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly. * Strong desire to learn, positive attitude; flexible and creative in job execution. * Bring an efficient mindset to the function. * Strong presentation and training skills; able to tailor communications to the audience-level. Additional Preferred Qualifications: * Solid working knowledge of contract and intellectual property issues. * Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of assignments. * Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures. * State and Federal contract negotiation experience.
