Job Description

Position: NRP Instructor

Department: Continuing Education

Status: Casual Contract

Site: The Michener Institute

The Continuing Education (CE) Department at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is looking for experienced qualified healthcare professionals (physicians, registered nurses, registered midwives, registered respiratory therapists) to facilitate in-person as per Canadian Pediatric Society Guidelines (CPS) Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) workshops. Please see below for a full description of the instructor’s responsibilities.

Position Summary

• Facilitate in person NRP workshops onsite at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The workshops are primarily scheduled on weekends.
• Evaluate participants' performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure competency in resuscitation techniques.
• Remain current with CPS guidelines/NRP curriculum and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Knowledgeable of the care of women in the postpartum and post-operative period and ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting.
• Facilitate discussion while promoting student engagement throughout the workshop.
• Responsible for equipment and materials throughout the course, supervise student use and ensure that students use the equipment respectfully.
• Ensure that Michener’s academic and continuing education policies and processes are adhered to.
• Liaise closely with the Continuing Education Department, ensuring communication and documentation are handled effectively.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Active NRP Instructor Certification from the Canadian Pediatric Society.
• Extensive clinical experience in neonatal care, specifically in resuscitation and emergency scenarios.
• Previous teaching or instructional experience, particularly in a clinical setting.
• Proficiency in using simulation-based training tools and technologies.
• Understanding of and commitment to learner-centered education.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent problem solving and critical decision-making skills.
