What will you be doing?

At Action Target, the Content Specialist’s primary role is to create and optimize diverse content that aligns with our strategic marketing goals. This position requires a proactive team member who will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand’s voice and visual identity across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be a versatile professional with a strong background in writing, content creation, and graphic design. Collaborating cross-functionally, you’ll ensure high-quality, brand-aligned communications that enhance audience engagement, strengthen community connections, and elevate our brand presence.

Some of your day-to-day tasks?

  • Craft clear, engaging, and persuasive copy for a variety of purposes, including website content, blog posts, social media updates, press releases, email newsletters, etc.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand tone and style.
  • Develop storytelling elements that resonate with our target audience and support brand messaging.
  • Design visually appealing graphics for social media posts, website banners, email templates, and marketing collateral using tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Partner with team members on content strategies to support short-term and long-term marketing goals, ensuring alignment with brand messaging.
  • Ensure consistency and brand alignment across all touchpoints for Action Target’s internal and external communications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, engineering, operations, etc.) to produce best-in-class content and optimize customer experience.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing content to inform optimization and future content strategies. Engage with marketing colleagues to measure the impact of campaigns and external communication efforts.
  • Build and maintain a diverse library of content that attracts qualified audiences to our owned properties, including repurposed content across platforms for maximum reach.
  • Update and create descriptive product/company manuals and guides for complex subjects, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and customer behavior to inform content strategy and identify new opportunities.
  • Track and analyze content performance using analytics tools, reporting on KPIs and making data-driven adjustments to strategies for continuous improvement.

What do you need to be able to do?

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, graphic design, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, with a portfolio showcasing content creation, graphic design, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate value propositions into compelling stories and targeted messaging.
  • Proven track record of creating content with compelling hooks and calls to action, creating engagement and driving action within target audiences.
  • Solid understanding of what makes effective content for both owned and earned channels and demonstrated track record of success executing effective content that meets organizational goals.
  • An eye for high-quality design, imagery, and videography and how copy and design come together at best practice levels to drive impact.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles, keyword research, and content optimization for search engines when building content.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to assess content performance is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience writing for both B2B and B2C audiences in a professional capacity is a plus.
