ABOUT JAVA HOUSE


The Java House Consumer/Market Insights Manager is responsible for developing, leading & executing brand learning plans, insight generation and Consumer research. Both qualitative and quantitative research techniques will be utilized to learn with: (1.) Consumers generating insights for our Office Beverage Solutions; (2.) Distributors & Operators to aid business development in our Food Service/B2B channel; and (3.) Java House Cafe.


The Consumer Insights Manager reports to the Java House Marketing Leader and will partner with a broad range of multi-functional business partners in non-Marketing functions to grow the Java House business. Examples Consumer research projects include:

  • Innovation & new product concept creation, in-use testing, naming and packaging design, conducted in partnership with R&D colleagues.
  • Consumer communications development, including insight generation and qualitative & quantitative pre-market qualification of creative assets, in partnership with external creative agency partners. Java House is focused on educating Consumers on cold brew coffee and related peel & pour pod options.
  • Sales forecasting in support of new product launches & annual planning, in partnership with Sales & Finance. This role will be a critical partner in ensuring quality, data-based forecasts.
  • Understanding Consumer attitudes, usage, jobs-to-be-done, and product perceptions. The Insight Manager will lead the organization in Consumer (B2C) and Customer (B2B), understanding helping to identify product delighters & pain points as well as ensure our market understanding is current for evolving cultural and economic trends. A key project will be developing a plan to gauge current Consumers, Customers, perception, diagnosis key drivers of both positive and negative sentiment & partner with the Marketing Communications to develop and execute a plan to improve brand perception and loyalty long-term.


This position will have overall responsibility for Java House Consumer and Customer research plans & budget. The Insights Manager will be the market (customer and consumer) expert and must champion the voice of the Customer/Consumer in all internal decisions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop multi-faceted learning plans around key business questions.
  • Design & execute qualitative and quantitative Consumer research.
  • Research budget ownership.
  • Partnership with external research agencies and internal functions.
  • Customer-facing presentations.
  • Continuous learning of best-in-class market research methodologies and analysis.


Desired Skills & Required Experience:

  • · Java House’s culture is fast, flexible & innovative. The applicant must possess these traits and be willing and able to operate with a rapid, iterative, agile, continually learning mindset.
  • BS/BA in market research or related discipline required. MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience in CPG and B2B environments with market research, consumer insights, study design and/or other similar, relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated strength in market research competencies with strength in data analysis, insight generation & Consumer research.
  • Experience with fielding research not requiring agency assistance (more self-sufficient model). Proficiency using MC Office, Power Point and Excel as a vehicle to communicate.
  • Strong data analysis and ability to translate research insights into action-oriented internal recommendations.
  • Ability to internally influence business partners and leadership to support Consumer-based recommendations. Cross-functional collaboration is critical to successful internal influencing.
  • Experience with forecasting, new product development, communications development & pre-market qualification.


This position is 100% in office located in Carmel, IN (northern Indianapolis) at the company headquarters & requires some travel.
