We are seeking an experienced
Consulting Leader in DNV’s
Power Systems Advisory (PSA) team. This person will lead a team of consultants and engineers focused on helping DNV clients navigate the challenges of building new grid infrastructure, including Transmission planning and application support. In addition to the grid infrastructure solutions, the Consulting Leader will work with PSA team members to create additional services to support large load planning, siting and interconnection. While these two service areas will be a keen focus, other emerging challenges may warrant the need for new solutions and additional team growth to support our clients’ needs.
This position will include responsibility for developing new solutions to take to market that support an existing portfolio of engineering services delivered by PSA. As a member of the leadership team, the Consulting Leader will also be involved in leading business development and client relationship management.
Broad knowledge of the electric utilities industry with a focus on transmission and distribution assets is preferred, including market and technology trends and awareness of regulatory proceedings and policies at both the state and national level. The Consulting Leader will be responsible for leading advisory projects, technical due diligence processes, contributing as a subject matter expert and communicating with clients. The right person will leverage their market knowledge and experience to create consulting solutions valued by DNV clients, while leading and growing a consulting team of market leading professionals.
This role is based at our DNV office in Houston (TX), Austin (TX), Dallas (TX), Arlington (VA), Columbus (OH),Jacksonville (FL), Miami (FL), San Diego (CA), Portland (OR), Nashville (TN) or Oakland (CA), presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.
The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within US.
What You’ll Do
- Be active in the utilities and RTO markets, leading your team in client meetings and delivering client projects
- Support the growth of existing and new consulting services by understanding client needs and clearly communicating DNV’s unique value propositions
- Initiate and coordinate projects across internal specialists (including energy economics, civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology experts, permitting, etc.)
- Communicate with clients to provide timely and relevant project updates and deliverables while ensuring milestones are met and expectations are exceeded
- Develop proposals in response to sole-sourced requests or RFPs
- Develop and provide subject matter expertise in select areas
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the PSA team, including tool development, process refinement, and lessons-learned activities
- Develop content for blog posts, industry conferences, and client workshops

As required by the Pay Transparency laws in Colorado, New York City, California, Washington, and Connecticut, DNV provides a reasonable compensation range for roles that may be hired in those locations. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $170,000 - $210,000.
About You
What is Required
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience to include broad knowledge of the North American electric utilities industry including recent trends and history, awareness of regulatory proceedings and policies at both the state and national level, including familiarity with RTO/ISO transmission development processes
- Familiarity with transmission technology (e.g., overhead transmission lines, submarine and underground cables, substations, HVDC converters, offshore transmission, FACTS)
- Experience managing collaborative projects and/or teams and ability to be client facing
- Excellent at building and maintaining personal and professional relationships, including a desire to coach and mentor junior staff and interact routinely with clients to build rapport and credibility.
- Ability to understand your audience and tune your communication styles to suit varying degrees of technical and commercial understanding
- Maintain a customer-focused, consultative approach to projects and client needs
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 15-30% of the time
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
