OVERVIEW:

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a detail-oriented, analytical, and creative associate with impressive communication and project management skills to join the Consultant Relations team within the firm’s Investor Relations department. Members of Investor Relations perform both marketing and client experience functions for current and prospective investors in the firm’s investment products. This position will help build out and manage the internal and external reporting and project management infrastructure for the Consultant Relations team, while promoting the firm’s range of investment capabilities to the investment consultant community. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a collegial and inclusive working environment, and has meaningful opportunities for professional development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

Your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining the Consultant Relations data and operational infrastructure, providing timely and accurate responses to internal and external inbound requests, and supporting the firm’s sales, client retention efforts, and cultivation of global consultant relationships. You will play an important role in the management of longer-term projects, including designing and maintaining robust processes, defining project scope, and assigning task ownership and priorities, while coordinating with members of the Investor Relations, Investor Operations, and External Communications groups. A critical component of the role will include becoming well versed in the firm’s investment capabilities, financial concepts, and capital markets. Over time, you’ll be expected to develop a deep understanding of consultants and their investor clients, the various consultant business and staffing models, and their relationships with the firm.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, an excellent record of academic and professional achievement, some existing familiarity with financial concepts, and one to three years of relevant experience in sales, marketing, or operational support roles in the asset management industry. Familiarity with investment consultants is a plus but not required.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; fluency is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving skills, a keen process orientation, and proven attention to detail are required.
  • An ambitious, commercially-minded person who thrives in a rigorous and collaborative environment and seeks to grow professionally will be successful in this role.
  • The expected annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $160,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
