About The Role
- A Project Manager for the Construction Team is a highly skilled professional responsible for overseeing and managing electrical projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong technical background in electrical systems, project management expertise, and the ability to lead teams effectively. The Electrical Project Manager collaborates with clients, engineers, electricians, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget while meeting quality standards and adhering to relevant regulations.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and scope.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals for electrical projects.
- Budget and Cost Management:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor project expenses and manage budgets to avoid cost overruns.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety and quality.
- Assemble and lead project teams, including electricians, subcontractors, and support staff.
- Delegate tasks, set clear expectations, and ensure efficient coordination among team members.
- Provide leadership and support to motivate and guide the project team.
- Review electrical designs and engineering plans to ensure they meet project requirements and comply with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to address technical challenges and implement design modifications when necessary.
- Procurement and Material Management.
- Coordinate the procurement of electrical materials and equipment required for the project.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and manage inventory to avoid delays.
- Supervise and monitor electrical construction activities to ensure they align with project plans and specifications.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure compliance with electrical codes and industry standards.
- Conduct inspections to verify the quality and safety of electrical work.
- Promote and enforce adherence to electrical safety protocols and relevant regulations.
- Conduct safety training for project personnel to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain open and effective communication with clients, providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any issues or changes.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to address design modifications, technical challenges, and change orders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate the finalization of electrical projects, including the completion of punch lists and final inspections.
- Facilitate the turnover of the project to the client, ensuring all necessary documentation and training are provided.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager, demonstrating successful project completions in electrical construction.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and construction practices.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and facilitate effective collaboration.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are a plus.
- 3+ years of PM experience
- Projects up to $10,000,000
- Strong proficiency in software and tools (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, Bluebeam, Procore, Plangird) and Microsoft Office Suite
