About The Role
MarCon Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced seeking a highly organized and experienced
Project Manager to oversee the construction of two major projects: a 6.8-acre community park and a new fire station with supporting barracks and infrastructure. This is a full-time, in-person role based in
Escondido, CA.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a hands-on approach to managing complex public infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality construction within scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Park Development Project (Fully Awarded):
- Manage construction of a 6.8-acre public park including:
- Skatepark, playground with resilient surfacing, lawn areas
- Picnic areas, seatwalls, benches, shade sails, restrooms
- Parking (including accessible stalls), signage, irrigation & landscaping
- Stormwater and erosion control, lighting & electrical connections
- Perimeter fencing and other site furnishings
- Oversee additive alternates (all awarded), including:
- Shade sails at skatepark, playground, dog park, and picnic areas
- Seatwalls, boulders, and a dog park buildout
Fire Station & Barracks Construction Project
- Manage the design-build execution of a new fire station and barracks at an existing administrative site
- Oversee demolition, hazmat remediation, grading, and utility connections
- Coordinate with federal agency representatives and stakeholders
- Ensure full compliance with UFC codes and local safety regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience managing complex public infrastructure or federal construction projects
- Strong knowledge of UFC (Unified Facilities Criteria) codes and compliance
- Proficiency in Procore and Sage 300 (Timberline) is required
- Demonstrated experience managing federally funded design and construction projects, including coordination with regulatory agencies
- Excellent communication, scheduling, and budgeting skills
- Ability to lead field teams, subcontractors, and consultants in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
Additional Duties And Responsibilities
- Understand the terms and scope of the construction contract.
- Responsible for managing all administrative and field construction activities related to assigned projects.
- Direct communication and coordination of trades throughout the construction process.
- Monitor job costs, work status, and billings, submittals, create project schedules and change order management successfully
- Ability to do basic estimating, take-offs, and solicit quotes.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, problem solve, supervise, and organize while using effective time management skills.
- Attend conference meetings and be attentive and alert at all times;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Ability to travel with possible short-term relocation, as required.
Physical Demands
Performance of the required duties will require an employee to drive and drive the company vehicle, walk job sites where open trenches exist, enter buildings in the stage of construction; climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with public works and fire station construction projects
- PMP Certification or equivalent is a plus
- Working knowledge of environmental and safety compliance regulations
- 5 – 10 years experience in Government projects Construction Management.
- Prior experience in directing and coordinating the construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements, as well as inspecting.
- Knowledge of preparing specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment. Supervising and training project team members as necessary.
- Knowledge of T.I., Underground Utilities, and concrete.
- Knowledge skills and abilities in Sage Timberline, Primavera Suretrak, and Microsoft Office Suite software,
- First aid and CPR training as well as a proven track record of implementing a strong culture of safety on the site
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and pass a government security investigation.

- Marcon Eng. salaried employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during a busy season in some cases this position will require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
