Who are you:

ConXtech is seeking an experienced project engineer who understands the process of coordinating structural and architectural details associated with the engineering design, fabrication, procurement and construction of structural steel for multi-story, steel frame commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

You have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, a Construction Management degree associated with structural steel, and/or applicable combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in reviewing and comparing sets of structural, architectural and shop drawings with the ability to recognize changes and issues, and work with detailers and design teams to resolve issues.
  • Modeling and detailing knowledge with Tekla Structures (preferably v2019i or v2024)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams (remote working)
  • Proficiency in the following software tools:
    • Procore (construction Admin- document control) and Procore Drive
    • Revit, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD and SketchUp
    • BlueBeam Studio
  • Ability to seek out missing information and initiate and track RFI’s to obtain and resolve open issues
  • Ability to cross reference drawings and assimilate information from multiple drawings to ensure final clear and accurate documents are provided that allow the construction crews to proceed without further research
  • Ability to communicate and clarify drawing specifications to detailers, design engineers, fabricators and constructions crews
  • Understanding of AISC code requirements, fabrication shop processes, and erection processes and procedures
  • Understanding of Lot Loading of structural steel members that allows for safe and efficient transportation from the fabricator to site
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A collaborative approach: team oriented, working and communicating well with others
What you’ll be doing:

As a Project Engineer at ConXtech, you’ll:

  • Be a professional and collaborative liaison between clients, design/engineering, detailing, fabrication/manufacturing and construction teams
  • Assist project managers in reviewing design drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Review contract and shop drawings for fabrication/manufacturability and constructability
  • Identify areas where ConXtech’s unique standard details can be used, and coordinate with detailers and design/engineering teams to implement
  • Ensure optimization of the ConX System by efficiently and correctly integrating ConXtech core system components into all phases of the project
  • Assist in reading and interpreting project plans and specifications from Concept through Construction and Closeout phases of the design-build process.
  • Communicate changes to the detailing team and reconcile all resulting structural detail changes with all team members
  • Organize and manage detailing RFI’s and create formal RFI’s for review by the detailer, engineer, architect, and general contractor
  • Communicate with off-site detailing subcontractors to ensure quality drawings are delivered on time
  • Review and submittal of shop drawings created by steel detailers
  • Assist project manager in management of subcontractors, including stair fabricators, metal deckers, miscellaneous steel, etc.
  • Work with structural steel fabrication team (particularly through the fabrication process) and communicate any deviations from “system” approach, which may require special attention
  • Work closely with fabrication/manufacturing and material procurement to ensure all drawings and BOM’s are correctly transferred to ConXtech’s Material Requirements Planning system
  • Work closely with 3rd Party Erectors to facilitate smooth and rapid frame assembly
  • Facilitate post-integration project review for conformance with ConXtech standards
  • Perform any additional reasonable tasks consistent with your professional abilities that may be requested by the company

Where you’ll be working:

You’ll be working remotely from home with the occasional onsite meeting as needed at a satellite office or our company headquarters in Pleasanton, CA. There are some restrictions to this opportunity and therefore we are looking for candidates in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, KY, NV, PA, TN, TX, VA and WA.
