The Construction Office Engineer/Project Controls position is responsible for maintaining all project records, as well as assisting with other administrative and project support tasks as needed by the Resident Engineer and Office Engineer. Work hours will typically follow daytime construction schedules and will be at various project locations and project office types, including construction trailers without plumbing.

What you will be doing (typical duties and responsibilities):
Construction Management
Assess, advise, and prepare response to Contractor Submittals
Assess, advise, and prepare response to Contractor RFI’s
Change Management
Lead resolution of field issues
Quantify potential contract changes and facilitate and track change orders
Assist with preparing Change Orders
Conduct impact analysis of cost and schedule changes
Forecast quantity/cost to complete
Document Control
Process, print and file all incoming and outgoing project documents and correspondence
Route and track contractor submittals and RFIs for review response
Process and distribute Change Proposals, Design Changes and Change Orders
Maintain project files, material documentation and as-built records
Create/Maintain Record of Materials (ROM)
Project Correspondence
Draft correspondence to administer the terms of owner-contractor agreements
Report on construction progress and trends; Draft monthly construction progress reports
Track correspondence for issue resolution, follow-up, changes, and directions
Draft transmittals
Meeting Administration
Prepare for and document pre-construction conferences/pre-activity meetings
Prepare meeting agendas with input from the Resident Engineer
Attend progress and safety meetings as required
Take meeting notes; prepare and distribute minutes and notes to all involved parties
Contractor/Subcontractor Management
Compile monthly progress payments; maintain all relevant records
Generate and verify math of force account work
Process Subcontractor Request to Sublet Submittals
Review Contractor/Subcontractor payroll for compliance (certified payroll, pay registers)
Maintain all EEO/DBE/Apprentice Training Documentation and participation
Prepare Weekly Statement of Working Days Statement
Administrative Support
Maintain project office, supplies, etc.
Provide administrative support to Resident Engineer and other staff as needed
KBA Engagement
Adhering to KBA’s Health & Safety Policies & Procedures
Contribute to improvement of KBA Processes & Standard
Conduct Employee Safety Audits
Prepare Site Specific Health & Safety Plan for individual projects
What you’ll need to be successful (minimum requirements):
B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management desired. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document control software (e.g., SharePoint, Primavera) and project scheduling required.
Ability to perform mathematics sufficient for volumetric calculation and basic surveying is required.
Good written and verbal communication skills required, including good interpersonal skills to maintain positive work relationships with clients, contractors, co-workers, and management.
A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
What we’d love if you had (preferred requirements):
PE certification desired.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to lift 50 pounds, such as boxes of records, is required.
Ability to sit at a workstation and perform data entry is required.
Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate uneven terrain throughout construction worksites for up to 10 hours a day is required.
