EMU has attractive benefits, and the salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The EMU Construction Management Program includes an ACCE-accredited bachelor’s degree in construction management and a master’s degree in construction management, as well as a college-wide Ph.D. in Technology with a concentration in Construction Management. The graduate and undergraduate programs focus on residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and civil/heavy/highway/infrastructure facilities. The Michigan construction industry actively supports EMU's curriculum development, student job placement, and accreditation efforts. The program enjoys strong support from the Alumni and their chapter at EMU and the Construction Management industry. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in construction management, student advising, active engagement in scholarly activity and research, and providing service to the Construction Management, school, college, and university. Key services include lab oversight, participation and support of the assessment and accreditation activities and process, leading our student competition teams, participation in alumni and professional associations, and events such as our annual career fair, golf-outing, and guest speaker series. In addition, the candidate will contribute to ACEE/ABET accreditations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Teach a contractual load of undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned by the school. Active in conducting research and supervising graduate students. Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and profession. Assign and submit grades following established University schedules. Keep office hours during the week, which is scheduled at times most beneficial to students. Provide academic advising to students. Serve on search committees for hiring new faculty members, departmental committees, and other service committees across the university. Participate in student registration, orientation, convocations, and commencements. Attend and participate in scheduled departmental meetings and functions. Engage in pursuits that enable them to remain current in their respective disciplines. Engage in pursuits that help further organize and contribute to the growth of the body of knowledge in their respective disciplines and/or explore interdisciplinary implications. Perform related Departmental duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Significant U.S. industry experience in construction and/or related areas. Evidence of successful college teaching experience, including Construction Management courses such as Estimating and Bidding, Construction Materials and Testing, Planning and Scheduling, Project Control, and/or similar/related Courses. Demonstrated expertise in construction management and computer applications, especially in estimating and bidding, planning and scheduling, construction project finance, risk management, and control software. Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly works and publish in construction management or related fields. Demonstrated industry network and interactions with the construction industry through training, practice, service, research programs, and similar partnerships.
