Position Overview:

As St. Data Center Construction Manager you will be a part of a creative, diverse team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Data Centers. Our clients' data centers are industry-leading examples of energy efficient, cost-effective designs. You will work alongside partner teams such as General Contractors, MEP Contractors, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our clients.


This is a full-time on-site role with any applicable travel costs covered for non-local professionals. Your primary role and responsibility will be to act as a representative of the owner to oversee the deployment of their proprietary equipment and MEP control technology within a single tenant collocation facility.


You will “observe and report” on construction activities and progress regularly to our client (per client-approved methods, systems, and/or templates). You will also coordinate and schedule activities for construction fit out and commissioning and facilitate our client’s change management process where applicable.


Some of the typical daily tasks of the Construction Manager:


  • Review and report on bids/proposals for detail and accuracy.
  • Create construction project scope and request for proposals as required.
  • Schedule review and coordination between the developer/colo operator, GC, and subcontractors with fit-out equipment vendors and installation contractors.
  • Review and identify potential design and schedule conflicts with client requirements and escalate when necessary to our client.
  • Construction document review and reporting including design specifications, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and other construction deliverables.
  • QA/QC and coordination with other QA/QC teams.
  • Observe and report key construction metrics.
  • Assist with facilitation and tracking for root-cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures.
  • Be a collaborative leader for internal and external teams that support the project.
  • Able to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines.
  • Understand data center system-level architecture, specify/document performance and equipment requirements, create/communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain applicable project documentation.
  • Experience with large scale critical infrastructure, projects, or data centers is vital.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Experience in controls and commissioning of large scale projects.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Meet or exceed our client's leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meet or exceed our client's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
  • Interface with the developer/colo operator and general contractor (GC) during construction and project closeout/punch list phases for the building envelope and MEP systems.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition and handover from the developer/colo operator to our clients operations team.


Experience:

Required: Real-World Critical Infrastructure Construction Management Experience


Beneficial: Hyperscale Data Center Construction Management Experience


Education:

Beneficial: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field


Additional Requirements:

This is an on-site role.

Periodic travel to other sites may be required
