Spence Brothers, a General Contractor and Construction Manager, is looking to fill a position for a Construction Estimator. The position is located in Saginaw, Michigan and could include travel to other locations throughout Michigan.


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of construction projects, ensuring that budgets are adhered to, and supporting the planning and decision-making process. This role requires a solid understanding of construction processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and suppliers.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Construction Estimator will prepare preconstruction estimates for projects in planning phases.
  • Prepare hard bid general contract bids.
  • Prepare concrete and general trades packages.
  • Assist corporate and project management to determine what types of projects to bid.
  • The Construction Estimator will participate in presentations to corporate management and project partners.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of facility studies.


Qualifications

  • 5 +years of commercial construction experience with an emphasis in estimating.
  • Degree in engineering or construction related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry standard scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc)
  • Local experience and sub-contractor/supplier knowledge.
  • Strong negotiation & dispute resolution skills required.
  • Can do / will do attitude.
  • The Construction Estimator must demonstrate strong communication and organization skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and risk management practices in construction.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
