Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity- Construction Delivery Manager

This role will lead, motivate, and empower a team in the construction and commissioning of new multi-modal transport network assets, including roading, footpaths, cycleways, and public transport facilities.

This role also involves upgrading existing assets to ensure safe, end-to-end customer journeys.

You will oversee client-side project management of programmes and projects through construction delivered by outsourced third-party suppliers.

Additionally, you will be directly accountable for project management of transport asset projects.

Key Tasks include:

  • Leading a team that delivers capital and renewal infrastructure projects in the construction phase
  • Ensuring appropriate levels and capability of resourcing is applied to construction projects
  • Acting as construction phase sponsor for infrastructure and renewal projects
  • Undertaking the responsibilities of NZS3910 Engineer to Contract
  • Managing allocated budget in accordance with organisational policies and practices
  • Demonstrating, delivering and driving, at unit level, a customer centric performance orientation, consistent with the wider Auckland Transport Customer Service philosophy
  • Business reporting, as required against, but not limited to, time, cost, quality, zero harm, regulatory compliance, risk and issues


Ko koe tēnei | About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, or significant proven experience in a similar role.
  • Substantial experience with NZS 3910 and acting as Engineer to Contract.
  • Relevant Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2 foundation and/or practitioner, PMP, or similar
  • Excellent project and contract management experience
  • Extensive experience in design of transport/infrastructure projects, associated tendering processes and project delivery
  • Ten years' experience in investigation, design or construction project management
  • Five years' experience in managing a team preferably in a political or highly complex organisation
