Job Description:

The Configuration Analyst Advisor ​ will oversee both the configuration management and change control processes across IT systems. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the CMDB, ensuring accurate configuration item (CI) data, and leading the governance of IT changes through established policies and workflows. They will work closely with infrastructure teams, application owners, and service delivery teams to ensure alignment between IT operations and business goals. This is on-site only in Fort Belvoir, VA

HOW A CONFIGURATION ANALYST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Maintain and manage the accuracy and completeness of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Oversee CI relationships and dependencies to ensure proper service mapping.
  • Coordinate integrations with discovery tools (e.g., ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM) and validate data quality.
  • Develop and enforce CMDB governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide reports, dashboards, and insights to stakeholders (e.g., CDRLS).
  • Change Management Responsibilities:
  • Own and operate the IT Change Management process based on ITIL best practices.
  • Chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and review all change requests for risk, impact, and scheduling.
  • Ensure changes are documented, approved, communicated, and implemented in a controlled manner.
  • Monitor and report on change success rates, failures, and trends to improve process maturity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to minimize change-related disruptions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree, 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), with specific expertise in CMDB and Change Management.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL framework and its practical implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility is required

NICE TO HAVE:

  • ITIL v4 Foundation (or higher) certification.
  • Experience with service mapping and automated discovery tools.
  • Prior experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Background in infrastructure, networking, or systems architecture.
  • This role may involve cross-functional collaboration with compliance, security, DevOps, and cloud teams. Candidates with a proactive mindset and strong process discipline will thrive in this role.

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
