Position Purpose/Summary
This is a part-time position of 18.5 hours per week, responsible for providing computer use instruction to the Senior Citizen population including the development and implementation of a training program. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Elder Affairs or designee. No supervision is exercised over other employees.
Essential Functions
* Instructs senior citizens in all aspects of computer use.
* Develops and implements a training program for Senior Citizen Participants.
* Maintains records of all attendees and classes completed.
* Offers and schedules a variety of trainings during the fiscal year, including but not limited to Microsoft office software trainings, internet use, and resume writing.
* Acts as liaison with IT department staff to ensure that all computers in lab working properly.
* Maintains inventory of lab and computer hardware and software.
* Assist other program staff with computer hardware and software as needed.
* Travel to various Senior Centers to provide computer training class for seniors as requested by the DEA Director.
* Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* General office, writing, and math skills.
* Ability to teach and instruct participants in groups and/or one on one.
* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
* Interpersonal skills to interact with diverse elder populations and department staff.
* Advanced knowledge of computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite and Internet use.
* Excellent communication skills.
Education and Experience
* Associates degree in computer technology or related field, bachelor degree preferred.
* Minimum of three (3) years computer software and hardware experience.
