Job Summary AeroComputers, Inc develops and manufactures digital mapping and mission control computer systems for airborne platforms. Our customers include airborne first responders such as Search and Rescue, Fire Fighting, and Law enforcement. We are a leader in the industry developed by the company 29 years ago. This person will work on repairing computers and providing technical support to customers from our onsite location in Reno, NV. Support will involve troubleshooting and finding a solution for software and hardware components in Windows OS airborne mapping systems. This person will assemble components, load software/data, and set configurations to produce new systems. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.), Trade school course completion, AA, or equivalent external training (Microsoft Systems Certification). 3-5 years experience in IT, technical customer service, or Avionics. Knowledge Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem recognition/resolution skills. Expert level knowledge and experience with Windows 10 and seven operating systems. Test and inspect Windows OS-based aircraft mapping systems components, and IMU systems, to MFG specifications. Repair, overhaul, and modify Windows OS-based mapping system components to MFG specifications. Assemble new hardware components, install required drivers, Windows OS, and proprietary software. Knowledge of networking such as VPN, Wi-Fi, Switching, Routing, and Firewalls Completes all checklists, forms, and documentation as company policies require. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Positive and professional demeanor. Prioritize multiple tasks in a sometimes fast-paced environment. Ability to read wiring diagrams (preferred). Experience with aircraft electronics or avionics preferred, but not required. FCC General Radiotelephone License desirable. Ability to effectively use the English language, both oral and written, to communicate information to others. Ability to assist in problem analysis and independent decision-making. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of aircraft avionics/electronic components. Knowledge of aircraft component repair. Knowledge of avionics, electronic, and electrical test equipment. Knowledge of military or commercial aviation maintenance and its terminology. Knowledge of U.S. Government regulations for federal contractors and FAA maintenance programs. Skills Social Skills Coordination- Ability to work with and collaborate with others to determine skills, and assist others. Instructing- Ability to lend hands to those who are untrained, and to help train those who need the proper skills. Service Orientation- Ability to give quality customer support cordially and respectfully. Complex Problem-Solving Skills Complex Problem Solving- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Technical Skills Installation- Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications of UC-6000, MMS-8000, and other AeroComputers products. Operations Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure the UC-6000, MMS-8000, and other AeroComputers products. Quality Control Analysis- Conducting tests and inspections of UC-6000, MMS-8000, and other AeroComputers products. Repairing- Repairing UC-6000, MMS-8000, and other AeroComputers products. Technology Design- Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors related to AeroComputers products and assisting in making them operation Work Context Work Setting –Lab-like settings for developing and creating aircraft and other avionics computer systems. Provide remote technical assistance for both hardware and software. Resolve customer issues via phone, electronically, or in person cordially and responsibly. Assemble components, image hardware, install software/data, and configure new production Assemble ruggedized keyboards and other peripheral components. Assemble internal cables with pins/connectors (some soldering). Ability to Record and Label Repairs in the system for appropriate record-keeping. Ability to research and understand complex computer systems promptly or assist management in spec-related upgrades and system hardware. Troubleshoots to determine malfunctions on airborne mapping systems and components and electrical systems components, such as airborne navigation/communication systems, GPS/IMU systems, and accessories component level, installation of airborne mapping software upgrades Tests and inspects aircraft mapping systems components, navigation components, GPS/IMU systems, and accessories to MFG specifications Repairs, overhauls, and modifies mapping system components, navigation components, and other electrical systems components and accessories to MFG specifications Uses all mandated safety equipment and complies with all safety requirements per company and government regulations and guidelines Completes all checklists, forms, and reports as required by the company, government, and FAA regulations and guidelines Participates in on-the-job training with on-site personnel Maintains adequate knowledge to understand and follow the repair facility's Inspection Procedures Manual Exhibits positive, courteous behavior with customers, businesses, and coworkers. Assists coworkers and those in other departments to perform job tasks and functions, when necessary, successfully. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
