Innovative Reasoning, LLC is seeking a Computational Modeling Data Analyst Intern to assist in data analysis, simulation modeling, and risk assessment in support of Maritime Expeditionary Warfare, Headquarters Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant for Combat Development & Integration (DC CD&I), Quantico, VA. This internship offers hands-on experience in computational modeling, statistical analysis, and dashboard development.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Data Analysis & Reporting:
* Assist in identifying, extracting, and analyzing data from Excel, web scraping sources, and structured databases to provide insights.
* Develop visual reports, presentations, and dashboards using Power BI to support decision-making.
Simulation Modeling & Analysis:
* Apply statistical and computational techniques to evaluate naval capability portfolio performance, cost optimization, and decision-making processes.
* Conduct sensitivity analysis and basic probabilistic risk assessments on simulated or unclassified datasets.
Risk & Statistical Analysis:
* Support qualitative and quantitative risk assessments under the supervision of senior analysts.
* Work with probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression models to analyze potential outcomes in decision-making scenarios.
Database Support & Data Management:
* Assist in structuring and maintaining relational databases using Excel, Access, or other Department of Defense-approved technologies for managing large datasets.
Skills/Qualifications
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and concise manner.
* Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, or risk analysis.
* Interest in national security and defense-related applications of computational modeling is a plus.
Education/Experience/Knowledge:
* Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computational Modeling and Data Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Experience with Python or R Studio.
* Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, R Shiny, Tableau, or similar).
Location: The primary workplace will be at Innovative Reasoning Quantico Location, 925 Corporate Drive, Suite 209, Stafford, VA 22554.
Work Environment:
* Hybrid environment.
Physical Demands:
* Work is generally sedentary; there could be a requirement to assist in moving and repositioning computer systems, servers, and other office equipment weighing no more than 50 pounds per person (e.g., two-man lift 100 lbs.).
Work Schedule/Internship Length: As stated during interview/hiring process. No more than Part-Time and 10-12 weeks in length (Summer).
License and Other Requirements:
* Hold a valid US Driver's License, with ability to operate privately owned vehicle to commute to work when/if needed.
Salary and Benefits: Paid Internship based on part-time hourly wages and as stated during the interview/hiring process.
Security Clearance: Not Required.
Travel: Travel to off-site office and on-site office when not working remote.
