Summary

SUMMARY: The Component Engineer Intern will work on alternate and second source component approvals, while ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Research, review, and obtain technical documentation for alternate parts
  • Research, review, and obtain technical documentation for second source parts
  • Work to identify areas of improvement in the component processes
  • Help with supplier qualifications as needed to support alternate and second source parts
  • Maintain vendor partnerships
  • Work with CAD to assure component information/documentation is loaded into the component finder database
  • Work with Purchasing to assure that all selected components are available and fit purchasing schemes
  • Help maintain Approved Vendor Lists in database
  • Create new component records in database
  • Coordinate and maintain documentation relating to component approvals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Currently Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hardware Technology, Component Engineering, Hardware Engineering or related field, entering Junior or Senior year of a 4-year program in Fall of 2025
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Proficient in Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lifting requirements up to 25 pounds
  • Requires standing and sitting for periods of time
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Reaching required
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Minimal noise.

Our facility includes a manufacturing environment. Moderate noise level. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protection, wrist and shoe straps, and ESD smock. Loose fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted. No food allowed in the manufacturing area. No cell phone use allowed in manufacturing area unless approved by management.
