Job Title: Senior Harness Component Design Engineer
Location: Newark, CA
Contract: 10+ months
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, with potential for overtime
Work Environment: 100% onsite

Top 3 Required Hard Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience reading 2D schematics and translating them into 3D CAD.
Minimum 5 Years Of Experience Designing Brackets And Grommets.
Minimum 5 years of experience conducting DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
Role Overview:
The selected candidate will be part of the
Mechanical Engineering team responsible for wire harness packaging in vehicles. This includes designing fasteners, brackets, panels, grommets, and clock sealers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other engineers to generate concepts for harness routing and packaging.
- Develop concepts into finalized designs, delivering detailed drawings and CAD models.
- Conduct engineering analysis to ensure components meet requirements for durability, manufacturing, and cost-effectiveness.
- Engage with suppliers to optimize cost, procure prototype parts, and schedule tooling.
- Travel to vehicle builds to collect manufacturing feedback and visit suppliers as needed.
- Work with validation engineers to develop test plans based on durability and functionality requirements.
Candidate Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong experience designing brackets, snap-fits, living hinges, and plastic and metal fasteners.
- Ability to perform stress, torque, and tolerance analysis through hand calculations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
- Proficiency with Dassault 3DExperience geometric surface and part design.
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred:
- Full lifecycle experience in automotive programs.
- Knowledge of harness routing strategies for various OEMs.
- Experience designing electrical components such as connectors and terminals.
- A portfolio showcasing past projects that demonstrate strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills
The national base pay range below is a good-faith estimate of what our client may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Client's assessment of the candidates knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $170,000 - $198,000
