OPERATIONS AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Compliance and Operations Manager to support our London law firm’s operations. This role will ensure the firm adheres to all regulatory requirements, manages risk effectively, and provides general administrative support to the legal and business teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal compliance, strong administrative skills, and an understanding of law firm operations. This is a full time, in-office position in our London office.


Key Responsibilities

Compliance Duties:

  • Ensure the firm’s compliance with applicable regulations and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with client due diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.
  • Oversee and coordinate Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks and monitoring.
  • Provide training to staff on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.

Administrative Duties:

  • Support day-to-day office operations, including document management, scheduling, and correspondence.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of legal and corporate documents.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and legal service providers.
  • Manage firm-wide licenses, subscriptions, and certifications.
  • Handle data protection matters, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other data security protocols.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date record-keeping system.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
  • Previous experience in a compliance or administrative role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in the legal sector, and risk management.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in compliance (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent).
  • Experience in liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Familiarity with law firm operations and procedures.
